Metformin HCL, as its trade name Glucophage is used in the management of mature onset (Type-II) diabetes. It is mostly recommended to use when dietary management and exercise have not able to control the disease. The way of it effects the body actually unknown. However, it is considered that it increases insulin sensitivity through some peripheral process. Metformin HCL causes decreases in the user’s blood sugar, but it cannot be said that it may cause a state of hypoglycemia in case of doses that is misjudged which is a major problem with injectable insulin.
The absorption rate of Metformin HCL is considered quite slow. It may take about six hours to get into circulation. In general, it is accepted by most bodybuilders to take 850 mg every two days. It is also important to take additional supplements such as carbohydrate and creatine monohydrate especially after exercises.
